Netanya נתניה

If Netanya could speak, what would she say?

I Am the Rose of Sharon, And the Lily of the Valleys.

The famous words written by King Solomon in Shir-HaShirim

As a Lily among thorns so sits Netanya among the cities of the Mediterranean coast. Yes, you will fall in love with Netanya when you see its beautiful coastal landscape. The Lily is the official flower of the city of Netanya. The city is located in the Sharon region of Israel and has received a title by many as, The Rose of Sharon.

Why all the nice things about this city? Look and read on.

Netanya is also called “The city of Diamonds.”

This is because Netanya is home to many Diamond cutters and polishers.  Did you know Israel is one of the world’s largest exporters of Diamonds?  You can thank Netanya for that.

This Jewel of Israel’s Mediterranean coast was started from nothing in 1929 and was declared Israel’s first city in 1948. It is proof of Jewish ability. Today it has about 190,00 people and at least 55,000 of them are new Olim. Many call Netanya the new French Riviera. The only difference is that it is filled with Jews and a nicer and more relaxing place to be.

You will enjoy your walks along the European style Boulevards. This is a unique characteristic of Netanya. This is why so many Jews from France have settled here. Even the Mayor said that with all the construction for new residences and tourism on the cities southern coastline, it is turning into a New Riviera. You judge for yourself if this is one of the best cities in the world to live.

If you like out door cafes and restaurant then Netanya is for you. Just walk along the promenade facing the sea and enjoy yourself. How about walking along the Netanya beach if you can. It stretches for 14 kilometers. Netanya is located about 20 minutes north of Tel Aviv and 30 minutes south of Haifa. It has full bus and train service.

The climate is sunny and warm and in the winter it cools down. But as for snow, you can forget it. It is a very rare occurrence.  When night falls, there are more then a few things to do. People like to get out and go for a walk, see things, eat an ice cream, maybe go to a restaurant or maybe some event is happening.

Netanya can be considered the main stop for French speaking Olim. The local government absorption center will help them adjust to their new home. One man named Olivier said, “We lived in France…It is a wonderful country, but our children have no future there…”

The photo below shows an enthusiastic gathering of French Olim in Netanya.

One woman named Annie who had done Aliyah from France with her family and some friends, felt so at home she said, "In France, we all felt Jewish. Here, we all feel very French."  Another New immigrant from France named Lionel said that “Everyone in the family was worried about our security when we moved to Israel last year,” …“and now here in Netanya we’re all worried about the family we left behind in France.” It has happened near his old neighborhood in France, cars have been set on fire. New Olim study Hebrew at Ulpan right here in the city.

Netanya is a tourist city and because of this there is much leisure and recreation to be had. Your children will thank you for bringing them to this paradise on earth. Come visit and stay in a great kosher hotel, eat in a great Kosher Restaurant and see for your self a prospective new home.

In Netanya one can Surf the great Sea, Wind surf, Sail, Horseback ride and do so many other beachfront activities if you are in for it. Maybe you just watch.

One may ask, "Can a place like this be good for my family?" Yes it is. Everything your family needs is in this city. There are 180 kindergartens, 43 elementary schools, 3 junior high, 16 high schools and a variety of religious schools. Understand this; Jewish schools are the best. Also Netanya is home to about 200 Synagogues. Therefore you will be able to find one that will meet you family needs. There is also an English speaking community in Netanya. An example of one synagogue is the Young Israel of North Netanya. The Rabbi and his wife are accomplished people from New York and came to Netanya.

In Netanya stands one of Israel’s most important schools of Academics. It is the ORT Hermelin College of Engineering. Now that you have what you need for a great life, you will need a place to live. In Netanya the Homes, Condos and apartments are as good as you can find any where in the world but the only difference is that they are located in a Mediterranean Paradise. Therefore if you are looking for a Condo with a view of the Sea you  can find one here. There are lots of places to work. If not in Tourism it could be at the Hi Tech Business Park located in Netanya’s industrial Zone. There are 300 companies there. With Netanya being a relatively short drive to Haifa and Tel Aviv there are many more job opportunities then you may think. Even Jerusalem is only about an hours drive away. The absorption office will help you with the necessary skills and direction in the transformation into the Israeli business world. So now where are you going to live?

All what you have read above is proof that G-d has kept his covenant with Avraham avinu. That is the promise that He would give this land to the descendants of Avraham forever. Netanya is proof G-d is alive and that HE loves His people.

So When Are You Coming Home?!

“Those who trust in HaShem are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so HaShem surrounds His people, from this time forth and forever.”   Tehillim.(Psalms) 125:1-2
