Beit Shemesh בית שמש

It is written in the Tanach, "The people of Beit Shemesh were harvesting their wheat in the valley when they looked up and saw the Ark (of the Covenant). They were happy to see it. The cart entered the field of Y’hoshua of Beit Shemesh and stood there by a big rock. They cut up the wood of the cart and offered up the cows as a burnt offering to HaShem. Then the Levi’im removed the Ark of HaShem and the box that was with it, which contained the gold objects, and put them on the big rock. That same day the men of Beit Shemesh offered burnt offerings and sacrifices to HaShem. Sh’mu’el א 6:13-15

Yes it happened once that the Holy Ark of the Covenant was placed on the road to Beit Shemesh. Now it is time for us took take the new road to Beit Shemesh.

Modern day Beit Shemesh is built near the ruins of ancient Beit Shemesh and is poof that our Beloved G-d is keeping His promise to restore our nation as it once was. In fact G-d says in the prophets that He will restore double to His people.

Beit Shemesh is situated on some of the most beautiful land in Israel. Looking out over the green hills is such a pleasant site to the eyes.

According to recent statistics Beit Shemesh is 100 percent Jewish. This city has a population of about 72,000 good Jewish souls. It is a city of districts much of which is made up of immigrant Jews. There are plenty of shopping amenities. Visit the "BIG" shopping plaza or some other one.

At this time there are over 1,500 families of English speaking Olim. Many of these are Modern orthodox seeking out a suburban North American lifestyle. In another district you may find Chasidic Jews and in another Sefardic and in others places a mix.

Houses generally are still affordable by western standards and they sit on a much more beautiful landscape in a safe environment for G-d Loving families. The location is great. Living in the country on the western edge of the Judean hills is wonderful. It is just over 30 minutes to Holy Jerusalem to the East and about 40 minutes northwest to the beaches of Tel Aviv and 10 minutes from the main Jerusalem Tel Aviv highway. What a life. Live in the country work in the city but know this, you may also find work in and around Beit Shemesh. Many Olim have found work near by in their field or profession.

One might ask, “What’s so nice about Israel?” Well in a recent study by the Central Bureau of Statistics, it was found among Israelis that 82% were happy with their lives and among young adults it was 89%. Israel is not the place you may think. It is a place of impeccable Beauty. Yes this photo of the Beautiful Hills of Beit Shemesh proves it.

Beit Shemesh means literally "House of the Sun" So it may be no coincidence that possibly the worlds leader in Solar technology is found here. Not since the visit of the Ark of the Covenant has such a new light shone from Beit Shemesh. This is the company called

Solel Solar Systems.

Solel is the world leader in the development and manufacture of solar thermal collectors for power, heating, cooling and steam generation. Solar thermal power provides the most comprehensive technology of all renewable energies.

Solel is changing the world!

There is regular bus service to Holy Jerusalem and Tel Aviv as well as Train service. Trains travel from Jerusalem to Beit Shemesh and to Ramla, Lod, Bnei Brak, Petach Tikva, Rosh Ha’ayin and Kfar Saba. Yes you can also go to Tel-Aviv by train. With a connection you could even go to Be’er Sheva. You may not need a car to go to work.

Israel is in the process of up grading their train service and lines into the modern Technological age. Train service in Israel will be world class.

Is there a home here for you? Come and see!

Kids will love the Givat Savion Park in THE Givat Sharett district The View, the air, the hills and wide spaces is a delight to any soul that wants Shalom.

Another relatively new district is Ramat Beit Shemesh. In the sector Aleph you will find English speaking Modern orthodox Jews and some English Chasidic. In sector Bet you will find Chasidic. But every one is Jewish and we all come from the same father,....Avraham. The road to Ramot Beit Shemesh is strikingly beautiful.

 .

People here enjoy a modern western lifestyle but without the big city crime.  We may not be worthy of such a place however G-d made a Covenant with Avraham avinu, which HE has kept. G-d gives his children the best. It is a great place for children. Beit Shemesh has parks and play grounds for the precious little ones.

The Chessed committee of Givat Sharett will welcome newcomers with their team of volunteers. They help the community by providing meals after a child born including financial aid. They will act also as a link between the new Olim and the Beit Shemesh community. Also locally know as Givah they will help out with food, clothing medical expenses and housing. Look at them as a bit of a safety net in the time of real need. Any community that provides this kind of Chessed is special. Here there is even a free loan society.

Nofei Aviv is another beautiful district of Beit Shemesh. Here also you will also find many English speaking Olim. You will feel at home at the Beit Knesset Feigenson shul in this community. The happy people of the photo are at a Siyum Communal Evening. It’s just like at Home but in Israel. The Kids also have a great time at the shul.

You might say Beit Shemesh is a little paradise for the typical Modern orthodox. Where ever you are there is a nice view.

Bet Shemesh has a local English language newspaper to keep you informed on what is happening in the local Bet Shemesh area. This city has all the amenities you are looking for from banks, health clinics, a shopping mall, drug stores and if you want to go out for a Kosher Pizza you can do that. New Olim are the pulse of this community. Below is Ramat Beit Shemesh.

There is no lack green space or places of recreation. With numerous religious schools you can pick what is best for your children. There is Ashkenazi synagogues, Sefardic, ultra orthodox and Modern orthodox among others. The schools below are in Ramot Beit Shemesh.

Beautiful Ramot Beit Shemesh sits a few kilometers away on the highest elevation of Beit Shemesh. Take note of the solar panels on the roof of the homes.

There is a community center seen in photo on lower left

a Library sports facilities and children’s activities. Some of the new housing projects were created to specifically meat the needs of English speaking Olim. There are also a variety of Chessed originations operating here.

Beit Shemesh has it all. There is even a Yeshiva for English speaking boys. There are numerous shiurim in English and Hebrew for adults. There is the Benjamin Kruger Library, which has a large quantity of English books for children. The little ones will feel at home in Beit Shemesh. Here you will find the B’nai Akiva, Ezra and Ariel youth groups. Bet Shemesh has over 200 synagogues.

Some may consider Ramot Beit Shemesh the crown of the city of Beit Shemesh. The view is breath taking.

The homes are beautiful.

Take the Holy road high up to Beit Shemesh. It was good enough for the Ark of the Covenant it may also be good enough for you.

So when are you coming Home?!

Those who trust in HaShem are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so HaShem surrounds His people, from this time forth and forever.” (Psalms) 125:1-2,

הודו ל'' כי טוב כי לעולם חסדו
